I played in the shadows et al team (The Wenches). The Wenches pack featured two tourists, five shadows (all former Wallaroos bar one) and me (#6). The backline borrowed two tourists, and had one shadow, two ACT players (fellow Viqueen, Nikki, and Owl Tegan) and one local player (congratulations to Narelle, my Vikings teammate – very young but very talented!) Royal Kasey Davis started from the bench for us.

The video above shows the tries from our convincing grand final victory over Unis. It should be noted that the try at 1:10 (or thereabouts) was called back because of an infringement (umm, mine) about 60 seconds earlier. A late tackle I was committed to. Alas and alack.
Our manager asked me to write the match report for the Vikings website. It hasn’t been posted there yet, so I’ll stick it here for the time being.

Will post more tomorrow, am feeling quite unwell still and my nose hurts after copping a fairly decent whack in the first tackle (one I was proud of, nonetheless) of the match.

MrTimms pointed out the Below The Line website, a very handy tool for planning your senate vote in the 2010 election.
I gave it a go, and while I was at it, I looked through as many of the party websites as I could find. If you are interested in doing the same, here’s the list I scraped together, may save you a few seconds. The list is pretty much in the order of the NSW Senate Ballot (apologies if you’re from another state). The Building Australia party site was inaccessible.

The Vikings Women (The “ViQueens”) are ready for the semis next week after a convincing 84 – nil showing against ADFA yesterday.
We missed the minor premiership by 11 points on for and against, which is a little disappointing, especially considering we routed Gungahlin in a friendly the week before after they forfeited. But no matter, we’ll roll on to take the premiership proper.
We had thought we’d end up playing Royals – the long-standing local rival club – in the semi final, but funnily enough, Royals finished fourth and we’ll be playing Jindabyne, despite the fact that Royals smacked Jindy by 50-odd points a few weeks ago. Uni-Norths, the minor premiers, will face Royals for the second week in a row and will take confidence from the fact they beat the blue-and-whites yesterday by 14 points to nil.
I expect to win against Jindabyne, and want us to do it in clinical fashion. Essentially, there are only three competitive sides in the competition: Vikings, Uni-Norths and Royals, and it may be a disadvantage to us to have had so many easy games in the leadup to a grand final. I think it’s possible that Royals can beat Uni-Norths, but I don’t care who wins between them, particularly. I’m ready for either.

ACT Women’s Rugby Preso was a laid-back affair last night. I was happy to take away the Best Defender (Forwards) award.
Sharni Williams was the deserving recipient of Player’s Player, while Louise “Cookie” Burrows took out the ACT Representative Player of the Year prize.

The following quote reminded me of my current largest shortcoming: I tend to go off my feet.
“David [Pocock] has always been technically very good I think – he works hard to stay on his feet and get low over the ball and get in a good position” — Jim Williams.
Will practice hard for the rest of the season
We played Gungahlin, who were short on numbers. We lent them 6 or 7 of our own in order to have a run around on Vikings No 1. Field (always a pleasure to play on). We gave them Willow, a former Wallaroo, who narrowly missed this year’s World Cup squad, which is an amazing achievement given she has a 6 month old baby girl. We also gave them Kristy Giteau for the second half and I can testify that girl has rocket shoes.
