About

Hey there,

I’m Amanda Singh, 30 years old and living in the NSW village of Sutton. Just so you know, it’s not so rural as you might think, being only 10 minutes north of the thriving metropolis of Canberra! I’m not really being facetious…

Cutting to the chase, I’m taking this year off to play rugby. Not professionally, naturally, because I’m of the fairer sex, but full time at least. I want to give it a good crack to see how good I can be and I’m not leaving anything to chance. No regrets!

But this is an exciting journey for me. I’ve been a back my whole life (with the exception of two games in 2007) and was moved to openside flanker only last year. And I only got a handful of games under my belt before rupturing my right ACL during our first game at the National Championships (playing for the Brumbies). But I tell you, my appetite for the game had been well and truly whet!

Not exactly pretty

In this blog, I’ll be sharing some of my training ideas, motivations and challenges, even some of my plans. I hope that some of these prove generally valuable :) .

My interests are quite broad; in reality there’ll probably be liberal dosings of my opinions on anything from politics and ethics to exercise physiology or chemistry or technology. Who knows — but I hope you enjoy.
